THE CHALLENGE
HOW IT WORKS
The clothes, the hair, the modeling—it's all you. First, create your unique User ID and pick the category that best represents your look: Red Carpet, Bohemian, Vintage, Urban/Street or Classic. Then it's time to take to the runway with a head-turning, eye-popping, fashion-fabulous profile picture and some information about what makes you style-savvy.
Once your profile is approved, it's up to you to generate buzz and gather as many "In" votes as you can. Post to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other social networking sites to drive traffic to your profile. Visitors can view your profile and vote you "In" or "Out" between July 29, 2009 and August 27, 2009.
At the end of every other day, one profile from each style category, 5 in total, will be presented on the home page as Featured Profiles. In order to be a Featured Profile, a profile must be holding an "In" status at the time and must have the highest number of "In" votes in its respective style category. Your profile may only be a Featured Profile once during the contest, so the next Featured Profile spot will go to the next eligible profile in the rankings.
HOW TO WIN
The five profiles with the most "In" votes, and currently holding an "In" status on August 27, 2009 at 11:59:59 PM ET will be declared finalists. A grand prize winner will be chosen from the finalists by a panel of judges based on creativity, personality, trendiness, and use of color (or lack thereof). See the official rules for complete details and restrictions.
PRIZES
Grand Prize: A fabulous trip to Fashion Week in New York City, plus $3,000, an autographed poster, and attend a Marie Claire Fashion Week Event.
TIPS FOR AN "IN" PROFILE
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PHOTO.
The information you put in your profile can really help you stand out. But no one's going to see it if you don't have a killer picture to lure them in—and in the end, your look is what really counts.
KEEP YOUR BALANCE.
When creating your look, you've got to walk a fine line. To stand out, you need to be original—but if you go too far, "out" is exactly where you'll stand.
GO AS PRO AS YOU CAN.
Sure, you can hold your arm out really far and snap your profile photo with a cell phone. But if you really want to make it "In," hit up that friend of yours with the SLR camera for a favor. If you use a photo taken by someone else, make sure to have their permission to use it in your profile. Your profile can only display one photo at a time, so make the one you pick count!
